HERE FOR A PURPOSE

“ The person without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder”- Thomas Carlyle

No matter how big or small a ship may be, it needs a rudder. A rudder is a flat piece hinged vertically near the stern of a boat or ship for steering. Thomas Carlyle is reminding us that a life without purpose has no direction.  We all need some sense of direction. The destination of the ship depends on its rudder. Just as the rudder plays a key role in the ships navigation, so is our purpose.  When your life is not pushing you to your assignment then your rudder is missing; go look for it. There should be something pushing you to your purpose and when that element is missing, life can be at a standstill.

In 2010 whiles listening to a sermon by Pastor Mensah Otabil titled “Pathway to success”, Pastor Otabil gave an exposition on purpose and why it is important to have one.  He emphasized that knowing why we were created is the first step in fulfilling purpose. His quote reads:

“ I am here for a purpose because God in eternity, passed, conceived something to do that necessitated my creation. I am not a superfluous intervention.I am a necessary intervention to cause change.” Pastor Mensah Otabil.

Awesome quote. Can you print this quote and hang it in your room as a reminder of the greatness God expect from us?.
